Mobile phone maker Motorola announced during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona the European availability of a new version of its Motorola XOOM tablet PC, one that would pack only Wi-Fi connectivity, and some more info on the pricing of this device emerged.

Apparently, the company would have the Wi-Fi-only XOOM available for purchase in the UK at £450 ($730), at least this is what the device's pre-order page shows.

This would make the Motorola XOOM, which packs 32GB of internal memory, cheaper than its direct competitor, the 32GB WiFi-only iPad, which is priced at £510.

Moreover, as the guys over at Engadget point out, the price tag is only £10 higher than what Apple asks for the 16GB iPad.

Basically, this would make the 32GB Motorola XOOM tablet PC far more appealing than the iPad with the same internal storage space, and those who consider it a good deal can already head over to Motorola's website here to place a pre-order for it.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the Motorola XOOM arrives on the market with a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 chip inside, complemented by 1GB of RAM, a 10.1-inch touchscreen display, dual cameras, and support for multimedia content.

The tablet PC, which runs under Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system, should offer a great web browsing experience as well, with included support for Flash Player 10.2 (the software will arrive later this year).

UK won't be the only market in Europe where Motorola would make the new device available for purchase, and T-Mobile already went official with plans to have the tablet PC available for its customers in Germany.

The wireless carrier will range the 3G-enabled model, priced at EUR 699.95, starting with late April 2011. T-Mobile will be the only carrier for the device for the first three months of availability on the German market.
