It is recommended to update via Samsung Kies to avoid Wi-Fi issues

Shortly after Toshiba updated its Thrive tablet with Android 3.2 Honeycomb upgrade, Samsung has started to deploy the same software update to all Wi-Fi Galaxy Tab 10.1 slates.

However, just like Toshiba, Samsung was unable to deliver a bug-free update, so Galaxy Tab 10.1 owners are advised to use Samsung Kies desktop software if they want to upgrade to Android 3.2 Honeycomb.

According to the folks over at XDA, all Galaxy Tab 10.1 owners who attempt to update their tablets OTA will have their Wi-Fi broken as soon as the update is complete.

Other issues have been confirmed as well, including the auto-rotate feature that does not work anymore. As XDA user marcchelala mentions: “After update, I cannot connect to any Wifi Networks, I also cannot connect my Tab to Kies, and Auto-rotate doesn't work either.”

Samsung has yet to make any official statements in this regard, though a workaround has already been found, which apparently 'skips' all the issues given by the OTA upgrading tool.

XDA forum user sreymj confirms that updating via Sasmung Kies will not cause any of the problems reported by those who updated their Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets OTA (over the air): “a solution has presented itself, and has been confirmed. Update via Kies. It works fine. I have updated three 10.1 devices.”

Even though it's recommended to upgrade Samsung device via Kies as often as possible, there is no other sync software buggier than this one.

In this regard, it appears that several users who updated to the latest Samsung Kies 2.1.0 version are now unable to connect and update their tablet due to the fact that their devices are not recognized.

All in all, it looks like Samsung pulled the update for the Kies page and is probably addressing all reported bugs.

UPDATE: Samsung has just re-released the Android 3.2 Honeycomb update for Wi-Fi Galaxy Tab 10.1, and this time the company promises a bug-free experience. Those who didn't updated their tablets in the first place can do it now OTA (over the air), otherwise Samsung Kies is needed.
