14 DAY TRIAL // A new Wi-Fi Certificate that was just spotted into the wild shows that there is another Palm mobile phone that is being developed at the moment, possibly pointing out towards that Palm Pre version that is supposedly going to land in Verizon Wireless' courtyard. The fact that Big Red is set to get the Pre on its airwaves is something that has moved beyond questioning, with the carrier shouting it out loud a few times in the past, yet there are no exact details available on when the move will be made, that's a fact.
However, the new Wi-Fi Certificate that emerged into the wild now might suggest that the launch date is nearing fast. The document points towards a P101EWW model of a Palm dual-mode (WiFi and cellular) smartphone. Those who might have watched the evolution of Palm Pre and that of the reports of it coming to Verizon should know already that it was said to sport either a 'P101' or a 'P121' moniker, as compared with the Pre that arrived at Sprint, and which had the Wi-Fi Certificate number of P100EWW, as Engadget points out.
CES 2010 is just around the corner and, based on the fact that Palm made a great announcement at this year’s Show, it won't come as a surprise if it plans on making a new announcement at the upcoming event. That being the case, if the launch of Pre on Verizon is also getting close, we might learn in a matter of days when Big Red will have the Palm device it longed for so much.
However, for the time being, these are only speculations and the almost here event might prove them false in the end, so one should take them with a grain of salt. Even so, Palm is definitely working on a new mobile phone, and CES would be just the perfect place for the company to unveil it to the world. We'll keep our fingers crossed, hoping that, if it is a new device, it will come to the market faster than Pre did.
