BlackBerry’s Passport inspires a lot of professionals

With its atypical square-ish design and huge display, the BlackBerry Passport is one of the most unique devices that launched last year.

The handset has been getting mixed reviews, mostly because its form factor is so strange compared to most phones offered on the market today.

However, BlackBerry is hoping to better promote the high-end device, so with this in mind, it has talked to a number of professionals who have reportedly renounced their iPhone to take on a BlackBerry model.

The people interviewed by BlackBerry included a lawyer, research scientists, a university professor, mechanical engineer, Fortune 500 salesperson, and workers from other sectors.

Reasons why the BlackBerry Passport is cooler than the iPhone

Many of these folks preferred the wide 4.5-inch display with 1440 x 1440 pixel resolution that the BlackBerry Passport offers as opposed to the meager screen of the iPhone (it seems they haven’t tried the 5.5-inch iPhone Plus yet).

The interviewed people favored the QWERTY keyboard of the BlackBerry phone, which allows professionals to get productive viewing and editing documents on the handset without much complication.

The extremely long battery life is another major benefit of the BlackBerry Passport, with one user claiming that his phone manages to last up to two days without problems. We also reviewed this particular BlackBerry model and found that the juice box is indeed capable of sustaining a long life cycle.

Other users said they found the Passport “fast and productive,” and the BlackBerry Balance, BlackBerryHub and BlackBerry Blend services also received their share of praise.

For those who don’t know, Balance means users can switch between a work and a play environment, on the same phone. Blend allows you to view content from your phone directly on your desktop, and the Hub is a productivity center where owners can store all their messages.

BlackBerry has a promotion for the Passport

If all these benefits seem like something you’d like to take advantage of yourself, BlackBerry has also announced it has a sale extended until Friday, May 8. Therefore, those interested can pick up the huge BlackBerry Passport with a discount of 8.3%, which means the phone can be yours for $549 / €491.

The promotion is available in US, Canada, UK, France and Germany.
