Let's assume that you are like me. Let's assume that you always want more and that you always want the best. If "high end" is a recurrent phrase in your vocabulary then there is but one operating
system suited for you. That's right... Windows Vista Ultimate.

Towards the end of this article, I have placed a graphic that will illustrate my point. Just click on the image in order to access it. It is a comparison of the features of Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Business and Windows Vista Ultimate.

For this comparison exercise, I have overlooked Windows Vista Home Basic. The reason for this is simple. The Home Basic edition only delivers the most, well, basic user experience and nothing more. With the exception of Windows Vista starter edition made available only in developing countries, Home Basic is a stripped down version of Vista and nothing more. And the price reflects this reality: $199 for a full license.

Windows Vista Enterprise was also overlooked. This article addresses home consumers and not volume customers. But there is also a comparison between all the editions of Vista available at this link. Via this resource you will be able to access a resource that presents all the features available across the Vista editions.

The graphic included on the left illustrates the main differences between Vista Home Premium, Businesses and Ultimate. Features such as Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption, Worldwide user interface languages, the subsystem for UNIX-based applications and the Windows DVD Maker are only available in Windows Vista Ultimate. But you will also be able to judge the differences among the three editions according to the following categories: security and Manageability, reliability, Setup and Compatibility, Search and Organize, Easy and Effective, Performance, Mobile PC and Networking. Home Premium costs $239, Business $299 and Ultimate is $399.
