Why Should We Pity Paris?

The celebutante's biographer says he 'pities' her

While Paris Hilton has nothing to show for her celebrity status, most people love her and there are statistics that show just how great the number of fans is that want to impersonate or look like her. On the other side are those who voted her entry into the Guinness Book as the most overrated celebrity on earth and those who designated her as the number one star they would like to see slain in a horror movie.

But her latest biographer, Jerry Oppenheimer, says that he feels nothing but pity after he conducted some research for his book about the rise to fame of the wannabe singer, 'House of Hilton - From Conrad to Paris: A Drama of Wealth, Power and Privilege'.

Without implying that the readers should also pity or feel sorry for Paris, Oppenheimer states that she became such a public figure only after having been pushed by her mother and grandmother into the world of showbiz, where she was to live the dream and the life they never had. 'Her mother, Kathy, put her in make-up and allowed her into nightclubs from a very young age. I feel sorry for her in a way she had no chance but to love the dreams that her grandmother and her mother had for themselves', the biographer said in a phone interview with Reuters.

Either way, pity or no pity, his words come as no compliment for the heiress. Despite being warned that legal measures would be taken against him, should he pursue with his side of the story, Oppenheimer spares no kindness on the woman who became a star for misbehaving rather than talent.

In the same interview, the biographer said: 'Her brilliance is getting attention - the exhibitionism, canoodling with guys in clubs and getting on the covers of celebrity magazines around the world. [...] It is a bizarre family. Behind the scenes, her parents were not opposed to [the sex video] because that totally launched her.'

But what Oppenheimer really pities Paris for is the fact that she is not for a second aware of what she is doing. 'Paris will say whatever comes into her head. She tends to make up stories and scenarios. I do wonder if she doesn't live in a fantasy world herself', he added.

Well, to conclude, a couple of last words: can hardly wait for the book to come out!
