Discover great new things about the iPod

As I was browsing the Internet for exciting news about the Mac world, I came across some cool things about the iPod I felt must be shared. T3 editors listed five things about the iPod that people don't generally know. Here's a little something about your iPod's hidden personality:

1. iPods take intelligent notes, meaning the player 'understands' plain text and even HTML, allowing you to create links between words, other notes, folders of notes and media files. Some users have even managed to create eBooks for iPod.

2. iPods can also record. Although Apple has limited iPod software for recording, there are ways around the restrictions, like installing Podzilla and allowing the plugin of recording devices.

3. European iPods take better care of your ears. In the EU, iPod volumes are capped and they're not as loud as American iPods. If you're not satisfied with your capped iPod, it can be patched to remove the volume limitation. Still, this is highly unrecompensed because iPods can get really loud and your hearing could be damaged.

4. iPod storage capacity is very high. They can store 80 GB of media files and going up (I've heard words of 120GB last week). Quite a lot of music, don't you agree? Furthermore, iPods also use RAM memory (64 MB for the 80GB HDD model), mainly for battery saving purposes.

5. A High Court judge in the Apple vs. Apple trial considered stepping out of the hearing. He felt he might not be considered impartial because he owned one of Apple's iPods.

These are the five new things T3 discovered about the iPod. I saved the best for last, backgrounds for First Generation iPod nano are now available and ipodwizard.net describes exactly how: download the required iPod Nano Firmware from the website and change your background picture by loading the firmware binary in iPodWizard and changing index 78 picture. See the ipodwizard.net website for more detailed instructions.
