Windows 9 is on its way right now, according to a handful of reports coming from people close to the matter, but Microsoft is only expected to provide more details on its next full version of Windows at the upcoming BUILD developer conference in April.

Even though Redmond hasn’t yet confirmed that it’s indeed planning to break the news on Windows 9 at the new BUILD show this year, the timing seems to be just about right given the fact that older editions of the developer conference have been used for revealing new details about Windows.

Back in 2011, Microsoft officially unveiled the Windows 8 developer preview at the BUILD event, which one year later, BUILD 2012 was used to talk about the recently-launched Windows 8 that got to see daylight one week before the show.

Last year, BUILD 2013 witnessed the debut of Windows 8.1 Preview, so this year, it would pretty much make sense not only to see Windows 8.1 Update 1 going live, but also to hear more details about the upcoming Windows 9.

Registration for BUILD 2014 is still open, so in case you want to reserve your seat at the show, this would be the right moment to do it.
