Project Beauty ready to fight against the Wii Fit for popularity

If you were one of the six million people who watched the YouTube mania related to the Wii Fit, you probably crossed your fingers hoping to hear that Nintendo managed to cast a spell and somehow create a DS balance board. That's not the deal, but this does not mean that the DS can't have its own "a must for girlfriends" game - this time we're talking about a title developed by Sega in collaboration with Japanese cosmetics giant Shiseido - "Project Beauty".

The game (or, better said, software) will feature a scanning device instead of a balance board, and it will "feed" digital images of the user's face to the handheld, in order to process them and analyze how different make-up types would influence the looks. Basically, it will analyze the shape and position of the eyes, lips and all facial features and show a potential makeover on the dual screen. Of course, if you prefer to choose your own make-up, there's an option for that, too, and it will be much easier than to test it live.

Project Beauty, scheduled for a release on the 27th of November in Japan (and with no announced plans of release in Europe or North America), is priced at 6,090 yen ($55) and comes packed with the scanning device. It has four groups of faces to match your own (cool, active, cute or feminine) so it will definitely become a fun provider at parties, when all the males present there will feed the handheld with their faces.

"The same user can have a variety of make-up tips for different occasions such as business, dating or formal gatherings. You would find colors that are good on you but you never realized before," Sega spokeswoman Rei Sugiyama said about the software. She added that it targeted women in their 20s and 30s.
