Why Aren't We Bothered by Apple's Monopole?

Let's get one thing straight: I am neither a Microsoft nor an Apple fan. Having established that, I can say that I'm having quite a laugh when I see that everybody is protesting that Microsoft is using its Windows monopole to ensure the success of every product launched, but nobody seems to have something against the iPod-iTunes duo for monopolizing the digital music market.

After
all, why are the companies running off to the European Commission to complain about Microsoft's attempt to introduce its security products, but when it comes to Apple, everybody is excited about the iPod being used as a locomotive for the Mac systems and the genius of the iPod is praised endlessly?

Here's another example. The music companies' attempt to block iTunes' monopole has triggered a wave of protests and sympathy for Steve Jobs, while any of Bill Gates's ideas face suspicion, everybody suspecting that the Redmond company is up to no good.

After all, Windows has a much greater impact on our evolution than the entertainment provided by iPod. How many of you would be able to live without iPod and how many of you would survive without Windows?

The bottom line is that from a certain point, there is absolutely no difference between Apple and Microsoft. It's just that users cope easier with the dictatorship which enchants our ears and eyes.

Hmm let me see, I study electrical engineering at university and the only time I use windows is when I am at uni, for the rest of my time im on tiger, and plus I can do everything on a mac that I can do on a windows.

next...

How many compatible mp3 players you see for mac os x? hmm... only ipod and maybe one or two others, how many for windows? hundreds, so maybe when they will release the software that is compatible with mac os x we can start talking about the monopoly of apple over the enetertainment.

one more thing...

How many companies did apple shut down or made to go bankrupt? hmm... and how many microsoft did?

Aw ye, how many of you think, f**cking windows everytime its goes nasty on you with blue screen, or everyime you get a virus??

I don't ^^

This is simple.

With the Windows monopole the world has standardized on the wrong technology!
A difficult to configure, unintuitive, insecure and virus prone system designed mainly for geeks and the technically proficient. This flawed technology was fostered on us by power seeking IT departments seeking to justify their own existence forcing many of us to give up our better performing Apple Macs because they required little or no IT support. Because we have belatedly realised we have standardized on the wrong system we have only suspicion for the Windows maker and its dictatorship.

In contrast, with Apples iTunes and iPod monopole the world has standardized on the right technology!
iPod and iTunes make a very powerful and simple to use combination. Purchasing, burning, organizing, transferring and listening too music is a seamless process that anyone can do with out the need of any IT skills. In short its by far the best technology available in its class. It just works and as such people have no problem with the iPods monopole position.

Monopolies in and of itself are not bad nor are they illegal. Its how you create your monopoly that matters. Microsoft cheated, bullied and lied. It established secret agreements to prevent hardware vendors from selling other OS.

Apple as far as we know has not done anything along those lines. Its pact with Samsung to buy up Flash RAM for example is public. It does prevent content owners from selling elsewhere (other than perhaps for short periods).

Lastly barries to entry in the mp3 space are not huge. Where that is not true of OS. There simply is not much to admire about Microsoft. But that's just my opinion.
