Why Are They Famous?

We thought of having a closer look at three of the most hunted women celebrities, who get a very great share of attention from the media. They may not be the prettiest or the most intelligent and talented and, yet, journalists just love to follow their every step and/or take their photo. These women are not doing anything in particular to justify them being called real-life 'stars' and, yet, the public simply adores them (not them in particular, just hearing and reading about them). Because they are: Jordan, Paris Hilton and Pamela Anderson.

Anticipating what anyone might think, the answer to the question in the title can be pretty easily given, without even straining ourselves too much: they are famous because we care about them; both the media and the public have made them the household names they are today but, in fact, they have absolutely nothing to show for themselves, that could possibly be included in the special category reserved for 'merits'.

First thing's first, let's turn our attention towards the British model/actress/author, Jordan. Mind you, we're not trying to state the obvious (meaning the fact that probably her breasts are even more famous that she is), what we're trying to do is simply get beneath the media frenzy to see what it is that causes it.

Jordan used to be Britain's soccer team mascot and then, after a few more breast augmentations, she became a regular face and body in the pages of the world's most sold men's magazine, 'Playboy'. Katie Price, as she goes by her real name, passes herself as an actress, TV show host and, most recently, author of two novels.

And the most amazing thing is that she is actually really big, both in Europe and in the United States. Encouraged by this, she even became a business woman and started her own Jordan brand, that is presently working on a new fragrance. How did that come to happen? What is so special about her that puts other women (with real talent and serious credentials) in the shadow?

That was actually a rhetorical question and we're not expecting an answer. But it's positively amazing how a woman can make a career with nothing but good looks to back her up, and they too (the looks) are 'fabricated' by the best plastic specialists on the planet. Yet, Jordan will continue to sell as long as sex sells. Until then, we are to undergo a bombarding of crappy movies and even crappier books with her name at the head of the list and, who knows, maybe she will try her hand at music too.

The number two position is proudly occupied by Hollywood's favorite slutty girl, Paris Hilton. She was born in the spotlight and grew into it more than anybody else. Sure, Paris does everything from fashion, real estate to music and movies but, somehow, she excels in none. The elder of the Hiltons sister was a star even before going into business and starting to sell her name.

A while ago Paris was among paparazzi's pets because wherever she was, real life and heavy partying was. Actually, that's how people began to know her and probably that's how she will be remembered for a long time from now on. But, as of late, the blonde heiress started to make a name for herself, in an attempt to clear her image as a party girl from the public's mind.

Her 'Paris' album hasn't been released yet, but her 'Stars Are Blind' single has been topping the charts worldwide. Does that make her the star that she is? It would have, had the song been any good... She is still loved by everybody (and especially gossipers) because she hasn't learned yet, oh, let's see, how to drive, or get out of a car, or speak coherently, or make a good candid sex tape. And, no matter what she says, Paris will always be Paris...

The third spot goes to faded 'Baywatch' siren and once bombshell Pamela Anderson. This is the classic case of aging starlet who can't quite face the fact that people might end up not loving her anymore. Everything that Pammy does, she does in big style and, just like her other two companions under discussion here, she does absolutely nothing!

Pushing the envelope a little, we might say that Pamela's only 'job' has been, for a couple of years now, to show up in various celebrity hotspots and flash her no longer desirable body. I mean, the woman is 39 or something, but still acts as if she were 20! All in all, Anderson doesn't act, she doesn't do music and she doesn't model anymore.

Instead, she takes up odd but heavily mediated jobs, such as posing naked for photographers in a window shop or releasing skin care products. Oh, yes, and she gets married... four times over with the same man. Come to think of it, Pamela is probably the one that should have come first in our unofficial and highly subjective top of famous for nothing women.

Anyway, as we already have said, sex sells and, as long as Jordan, Paris and Pamela are willing to show off their assets or to create a scandal out of thin air they will retain their 'star' status. And, since none of them shows any intention of giving that up, brace yourselves to hear much, much more details about their lives!
