I have just encountered a strange article written by a colleague from the well-known technology-dedicated web site Hardware Zone. In that article it is said that, and I quote: "Kingmax is the only brand on the market that has offers a waterproof memory card and anti-forgery technology, and its multi-color products show the brand's uniqueness and distinctiveness in the minds of consumers."
Oh, well it is not the only one and what is strange is the fact that just yesterday they have written about some
new entries on the memory stick market segment launched by A-data, which feature shock proof technology, anti-forgery technology, water-proof showcase and Chinese kanji written all over.
Moreover, the editor said in its article that you, as a user, can not trust the memory manufacturers because: "If something does go wrong with a product, the vendor may simply change the label and put it back on the market! Therefore, nothing beats choosing a brand that has been on the market for years and enjoys an excellent reputation."
And why did he/she chose Kingmax, as there are several others manufacturers which are leaders on the market and suppliers of the technology needed for the development of the memory sticks or flash drives such as Toshiba, Samsung, Sony and many others, but these three, especially Samsung and Toshiba rule and the studies prove it.
On the other hand, they are right when they say that the user shouldn't trust an unknown producer, as the process of manufacturing and commercialization are, in fact, easy to do, only if you have some technology in hand. Yes, you can find a supplier, issue a nice press release, speak with some editors and the job is done. You are a new born star.
But it's not that simple. The leaders, which are also the technology suppliers and, of course, developers, release every month a new product, so the job is not entirely so easy to do. You have to run for your life on the technology market or the leaders will eat you alive.
And, come on… look at the market share!
