Even if these charts and titles mean nothing for the celebrities who get them, neither in terms of money nor of prestige, they do illustrate just how appreciated they are by the very same persons for whom they really count: the fans.
While in the female category, Scarlett Johansson was named 'the Sexiest Woman Alive' by more than one magazine, the title for the 'Sexiest Man' went this year, for the second time, to George Clooney. And this did not happen just because he is good looking, but other factors were also taken into consideration, according to Cynthia Sanz, a member or the magazine's editorial panel.
'His big movies came out at the end of last year, he has been active in the campaign to help people in Darfur, obviously he's great looking - we just thought he was the total package this year.', Sanz told Reuters in an exclusive interview. Plus, the man is single and that only counts a bit more (for the female fans, of course): 'It's a little more fun when the sexiest man alive is available'.
George responded to the honor that was made to him by giving an interview to the popular magazine. In it, he showed that he was thankful for the title and joked about upsetting Brad Pitt (who was also named twice throughout his career). 'This one's going to be hard for Brad since he's been 'Sexiest Man Alive' twice. He's enjoyed that mantle. I'd say, "Sexiest Man Alive" to him, and he'd go, "Two-time". So that's been taken away', Clooney joked about his friend's reaction.
The latest issue of the magazine in which you can read the full interview comes out on all newsstands this Friday.
