Whitney Houston was the recipient of the Millennium Award at last night's Billboard Awards 2012, with Pat Houston and Bobbi Kristina Brown taking to the stage to accept it. However, the entire thing didn't go down without some drama, it has emerged.

TMZ claims to have it on very good authority that Pat, Whitney's manager and sister-in-law, caused quite a ruckus with organizers of the awards show because she wanted to be the only one to accept the distinction on Whitney's behalf.

At the same time, the organizers insisted that Bobbi Kristina do it because they felt she was the one who was entitled to stand on that stage to speak to her mother's fans.

“Whitney Houston's sister-in-law – Pat Houston – is waging war against Bobbi Kristina because she desperately wants to accept Whitney's Billboard Music Award on her behalf... and only BK is standing in her way,” TMZ reports.

“Pat is trying to force herself into the spotlight by accepting Whitney's Millenium Award at the ceremony in Las Vegas tonight, and producers of the show are [upset],” the same media outlet says.

At the time the report came out, Pat was supposedly trying to “worm her way into the segment,” with producers believing she was only doing so because she wanted to generate more media attention for her upcoming reality show.

“Sources tell us, the show's producers feel BK is the best choice to represent Whitney's legacy and they're convinced Pat is simply exploiting the situation to get publicity for her upcoming reality show,” TMZ notes.

In the end, both Pat and Bobbi Kristina walked up on stage to accept the award, with Pat speaking only to introduce Bobbi Kristina as the only person who had a right to hold her mother's award.

Bobbi Kristina, in her turn, did a wonderful job at thanking fans and the music industry for the love and support they have been giving her mother throughout the years, while also underlining no other artist like her could ever take her place.

“I really want to say thank you to everyone who supported us through it all. Not just from when it was good but when it was bad, too,” Bobbi Kristina said.

“Thank you for showing that much love, because she deserved it... I'm just blessed to have been in such an incredible woman's life. There will never be another one, ever,” she added.
