Whitney Houston is gearing up to make a fabulous comeback on the music scene, after such a prolonged absence. With the help of mentor and longtime friend Clive Davis, Houston has come up with “I Look to You,” an album that has already garnered raving reviews at private listening parties. Fans are now getting a first taste of it as well, with “Million Dollar Bill,” the first official single.
Written by Alicia Keys and produced by her boyfriend, Swizz Beatz, “Million Dollar Bill” is an empowering track if the world has ever seen one. With a modern, very catchy beat and plenty of hooks, the single manages to combine the best of both worlds, in the sense that it’s new but, at the same time, it’s also extremely Whitney Houston-specific, several music-oriented publications point out.
However, whereas critics are already on their toes hailing the comeback of the great Whitney, fans are not equally pleased, with most of them saying that they had expected more from her than to resort to studio trickery to sell her music, which is what they call the “updated” sound embraced by the diva. Still, they too bow down to the “amazingness” that is Houston’s voice, which seems to have remained unchanged even after so many years, estimating that “I Look to You” will mostly likely blow up the charts upon release.
“Her fans will be proud. The track has a very classic R&B sound playing on the live bass guitar and smooth uptempo melody; but with all of the classic instrumentation present on the song, it can not take full responsibility for the pizazz that Whitney has up her sleeve. The songstress’ voice reigns supreme all over this song, reminding us why we fell in love with her in the first place. Entering into the track with confidence and a dare to attitude, no one can deny the fact that Ms. Houston is back.” The Examiner writes of the release.
“Million Dollar Bill” was released on radio a few hours ago, which means we’ll probably be hearing it for the next couple of months. The comeback album, the much-hyped and long overdue “I Look to You,” is out on August 31, so keep an eye on this space for more details on it. In the meantime, below is the first single off it: listen and enjoy.
I like the single but I think the review of the song up above is lacking. The review says [ the “amazingness” that is Houston’s voice, which seems to have remained unchanged even after so many years] but her voice definitely isn't there like it used to be. Notice the production on the track is turned way up & her voice way down. I venture to say that she won't be able to hit nor hold the BIG notes we were used to her taking on. However, I love Whitney & she's been through a lot so I am rooting for her. I hope her album does great!
the CD review give at the top of this page is a blatant LIE! She sounds horrible in comparison to how she was before she ruined her voice. How dare you insult our intelligence with that BS. Let's just celebrate that she's alive. She needs to let it go and perhaps produce someone or perhaps write a book, I got the title "Didn't we almost have it ALL".

let go of the past . She sounds great as always. she will never sound 25 again, guess what she is not 25 she is 46! God ,let go of the negative. If not a true fan stay off the blog. why do we continue to tear people apart even when they are getting or have gotten themselves together. she is a strong, powerful black woman. you can't and won't keep her down. god has her. she will always strive and soar to the top. her voice is still amazing to me.

I am a fan of Whitney's and have been since her debut. I am so thankful to God that she's pullled herself together and survived the drugs, bad marriage, etc...however, it seems so many fans are in denial. She sounds awful compared to the magic VOICE we all knew. Age does not do that much damage! Your voice may mature some but let's face it...the voice that made her WHITNEY is damaged badly. Her performance on GMA is a further confirmation. Let's not forget though, the degradation of her voice started years ago after marrying Bobby---so all of this should be no surprise today. I will continue to pray for her and purchase her music but I will also speak the truth and not live in denial---fan or not!
Just like I said in the above comment, She sounds great ( TO ME). I'm 39yrs old and grew up listening to whitney. she dominated everything; from movies ( the Bodyguard grossed $400 million) and she still manages to sell out mags, albums and interviews and more, now what? She laid low and still came back and out sold all newies on the scene, now what? say what you want; get ova the past- no her voice is not 20 , neither is she. She's great no matter what- we love whitney !!!! oh did u see her on idol - she killed it notes and all even though her dress strap broke. Please stop judging our black artist. Question; why when white artist go down to drugs and never come back ( like Elvis junky prestly r.i.p) no one says anything, but a black popular female artist ( lord ) how bout ...... Britney and the rest of them junkies. oh and did we forget how they singled out janet and left white justin timberlake be, why was that? I know JANET is way more important, rich, talented and yes she made that performance HOT! He tore off too much of her top on purpose and then left her out to hang, but she is selling out every concert she has done this year. I'm trying to get tickets for 2mths now. SOLD OUT SOLD OUT SOLD OUT IN EVERY CITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
