Singer Whitney Houston acted like a true diva on a recent flight with Delta Airlines to Detroit, refusing to fasten her seatbelt for the takeoff. She had to be threatened to be kicked off to comply, says a new report.

Various sources (on the plane, presumably) tell TMZ that Whitney threw quite a hissy fit on the plane and wouldn’t comply with the crew’s request to fasten her seatbelt before takeoff.

“Whitney boarded a flight in Atlanta Wednesday afternoon... and when she settled into her seat, a crew member asked her to buckle up,” TMZ writes.

She wouldn’t listen, even when she was told the plane couldn’t take off if she didn’t have her seatbelt on.

“We’re told Whitney refused and ‘got diva’ on the crew member... until another crew member came over and warned Houston that if she didn’t buckle up, she would have to get off the plane,” the e-zine further reports.

“Whitney eventually allowed one of the crew members to grab the buckle and fasten it for the singer – and the plane was then cleared for takeoff,” adds TMZ.

Even though strange, Whitney’s behavior wasn’t down to drug abuse, the same report argues. If anything, she was tired, other sources are saying, hoping to shoot down rumors of substance abuse.

“Sources close to the singer tell us... Whitney ‘overreacted a little bit after missing an earlier flight but she’s still 100% sober and was on the way to Detroit for her first day of shooting a new movie’,” TMZ writes.

Word in the blogosphere also has it that the singer was “exhausted” and that’s why she acted this way, because she was just too tired to care.

Useless to say, these denials from unnamed sources have only helped fuel speculation that Whitney may be using again.
