Reports saying Apple has delayed the white iPhone 4 until next Spring have emerged, complete with a statement from Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller who declined to provide an explanation as to why customers must endure this excruciatingly long wait.

John Packowski of Digital Daily reportedly received word from Apple that the white iPhone 4 won't arrive until next year, according to AppleInsider.

The former source also provides a statement from Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller, who reportedly said: “We’re sorry to disappoint customers waiting for the white iPhone yet again, but we’ve decided to delay its release until this spring.”

Prior to this rather unsurprising confirmation, Apple had delayed the white version of its controversial handset not once, but twice.

Delayed for the third time now, those who planned on buying the white iPhone 4 as a Christmas gift for someone, or for themselves, are surely upset.

It is known that manufacturing the device is slightly more complicated than producing the black version. Apple themselves said it in two separate statements on the status of the production cycle.

However, word has it that the drawback is actually a problem of matching colors. Some, who claim to be knowledgeable of such matters, claim Apple has had trouble matching the white of the phone’s front plate, with the white under the phone’s home button.

Other reports said the back glass panel was problematic, in that it leaked light coming from the handset’s screen. Whatever is the source of the delay, Apple doesn’t want the press knowing.

And why would they? The iPhone 4 has been the subject of controversy since its first days in the wild, when people started noticing a severe drop in signal bars, as users bridged the outer antennas with their hands.

Then, reports started emerging regarding another possible design oversight - the glass plates covering the front and the back of the device scratch, and even shatter easily.

This is a confirmed fact, which led many to assume Apple was on the verge of a second PR disaster, regarding the iPhone 4.
