White Night sounds like a paradox, but this is an old-school survivor horror adventure in the retro noir style, which is being released by OSome Studio.

A relatively new studio, OSome Studio has been created by Domenico Albani, Mathieu Fremont and Ronan Coiffec. Albani and Fremont met while they were employed together at Eden Games, the studio that brought us the fifth instalment of Alone in the Dark.

Although, they went separate ways after the release of the game, they always felt they have something to say in the gaming space, which is why they have decided to let loose their creativities in their new game White Night.

White Night is a narrative retro noir horror adventure set in Boston in the 1930s. According to Ronan Coiffec, they “wanted to create something that people would enjoy, but also something that would stand out as unusual and refreshing in today’s survival horror landscape.”

Developers even rented a mansion for authenticity

Just like many other horror stories, this one is told in a deserted mansion. White Night is supposed to offer fans of the genre a classic horror survival ghost story full of mystery, poetry, alchemy and suspense.

In order to give the game an accurate and chilling feeling for the 1930s, developers have drawn inspiration from black-and-white cinema, jazz music from the era, and they even went so far as to rent a real-life mansion in Normandy for a week to talk about the game.

By studying the architecture of the mansion and taking pictures, they have been able to define the game’s art style and implement that chilling feel specific to deserted buildings.

If you’ve just become curious about White Night, then make sure to check out the trailer below. The game will be launched on PlayStation 4 on March 4 and will be available for purchase for £11.99 (€14.99/$14.99).
