Motorola’s Moto X smartphone is getting closer and closer to its official release, and it seems that Google is already testing it out in the wild, as the phone has been spotted in the hands of the company’s Executive Chairman, Eric Schmidt.

A series of photos depicting him using a Moto X device have made it online via Reuters, suggesting that the device’s launch might indeed be near.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the smartphone is expected to land on shelves with a 720p screen, a 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro MSM8960T processor, and 2GB of RAM.

Furthermore, rumor has it that the phone will pack a 10-megapixel photo snapper on the back, a front camera for video calling, and the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system, most probably with the stock UI loaded on top.
