Not an altogether accurate name, but it makes it clear this is a serious piece of tech

Black Widow spiders don't have much white on them, unless you count the spider silk. Indeed, they are more black and red than black and white. Still, Razer thought the spider that kills her mates after being done with them would be a good namesake for its latest peripheral.

We've lost count of how many peripherals or other computer parts have borne the name Black Widow, spider, scorpion, killer, or any combination thereof. Same for any names inspired by myths and the many comic books and fictional characters in the world.

The newest one from Razer, the Counter Logic Gaming Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth keyboard, is more Counter Logic than stealthy.

After all, the white color around the keys and the white backlight beneath are not quite conductive to stealth. Contrary, as it were. Counter Logic indeed.

That doesn't change the fact that the peripheral is a versatile piece of work though. For one thing, the new keyboard uses Razer's own Mechanical Switches, which are said to be quite precise and featuring gold-plated contact points.

Thus, the keys, each key, should last for up to 60 million key strokes, even if you start hammering on them in rage or tension during a big game fight or chase. The actuation force is of 45g.

There are five dedicated macro keys, but you can record on-the-fly macros for every key on the keyboard if you want.

Additionally, 10-key roll-over anti-ghosting means that the system won't beep and choke if you press more than one button at the same time. Should be great for split-screen fighting games.

Razer Counter Logic Gaming Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth keyboard also benefits from USB pass-through and 1,000 Hz ultrapolling, plus a braided fiber cable.

All in all, it measures 475 x 171 x 20 mm, or 18.72 x 6.74 x 0.79 inches. On that note, the keyboard has audio out and microphone jacks and individually backlit keys.

The Razer Counter Logic Gaming BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth keyboard should already be up for sale, at least in the United States and European nations, for $149.99 / €149.99. Those are the figures given by the company in its announcement, so don't go hoping for a lower price in the EU, because exchange rates won't be coming to the rescue. Alas.

Counter Logic Gaming, or CGL for short, is a professional eSports team that Razer has worked with in the past. You can see the logo on the palm rest, near the right corner.
