Comes with six new missions

It's a sure bet that the Wheelman videogame would have seen much more sales if it had been released after enough people had had the chance to watch the most recent Vin Diesel movie, Fast & Furious: Original Parts.

Now, all those interested in seeing more car on car action complete with the sculpted bust and dark glasses of Vin Diesel can download the first piece of downloadable content for Wheelman, which is available for the Xbox 360 version of the game and costs 400 Microsoft Points, or about 5 dollars in real world money. Those who play it on the PlayStation 3 will have to wait just a bit more in order to get the DLC on May 7.

The content is made up of six new “Street Showdown” missions, which are adrenaline filled and sometimes even tough to beat, but tend to become repetitive as you slog through Wheelman. Ubisoft, the publisher of the game, is saying that the same content might also be brought to the PC, although no date is yet available. Shacknews has quoted a Ubisoft spokesperson as stating that they have “nothing to announce at the moment, but it is a possibility that we're exploring.”

Wheelman managed to be a pretty faithful reproduction of the basic structure of a Vin Diesel action movie, with all the problems that plague the genre. At first, the car combat options and the seemingly open-ended nature of the city are interesting but once the plot, which is obvious and lacks any punch, gets going, the missions become very similar to each other and even the special moves that Vin Diesel makes become annoying after seeing them time and time again. Adding more content to the game somehow doesn't seem to be the solution.
