WhatsApp, the popular cross-platform messaging application, is still expected to arrive on devices powered by RIM’s upcoming BlackBerry 10 operating system, although recent reports suggested that it wouldn’t.

Apparently, Research In Motion is working with the company for the release of such an application, although it’s yet uncertain whether the software will be available at launch.

WhatsApp did say last week that they had no plan to support BlackBerry 10 for the time being, but that didn’t mean that they wouldn’t offer support for the OS, it seems.

In fact, Alec Saunders, VP of Developer Relations, Research In Motion, confirmed on Twitter that work is being done in the direction of having WhatsApp available on the OS.

No other details on the mobile application have been provided, but more should become available soon, so stay tuned to learn the news.
