14 DAY TRIAL // Today WhatsApp for Windows Phone has received a new update that brings a few fixes and performance improvements on all devices powered by Microsoft's mobile OS.
A change log for this particular release is not yet available, but it's believed that the new version of WhatsApp was specifically released to tackle some issues with WhatsApp Web on Windows Phone, as we've received reports that this particular feature wasn't working exactly as expected on some devices.
Basically, a number of users complained that WhatsApp Web had a delay of a few seconds at random times, while others revealed that the connection between the phone and the web-based service would drop of all of a sudden, so sending and receiving messages would stop working.
Right now, it's not yet clear if WhatsApp version 2.11.670.0 indeed addresses these issues, but we've already installed it on our devices and we will share more details once we have them.
Still a battery killer on Windows Phone
One the other hand, the biggest issue with WhatsApp on Windows Phone continues to be there, as the app drains battery very fast on all devices powered by Microsoft's OS.
There are some cases where WhatsApp eats up more than 50 percent of the battery, obviously depending on app usage, and right now the issue doesn't seem to be related to any phone model or OS version running on a specific device.
We also experienced similar issues in the past, but things have been slightly improved in the meantime, and at this point, WhatsApp barely reaches a 20 percent usage in Battery Saver on our devices. As far as battery usage is concerned, it's too early to tell if this new update brings any changes in this regard.
Obviously, all users are recommended to get and install the new version of the app on their devices, so go ahead and download WhatsApp for Windows Phone right away to see if it indeed brings any noticeable improvements.
