One of the most popular cross-platform instant messaging applications, WhatsApp has just been updated with new features and bug fixes.

MyNokiaBlog reports that the WhatsApp Messenger for S40 has been updated with emoticon support. No other detail has been revealed on this Java client.

However, the Windows Phone application received more new features, including improved support for Emoji.

WhatsApp for Windows Phone 1.9 should be available for download in the Marketplace and brings a few new features.

According to the official changelog, the latest update should bring a new feature that allows users to group mute features.

Furthermore, WhatsApp Messenger users will now be able to share contacts. Last but not least, the latest update adds the option to browse downloaded media in a conversation.

Also, developers confirmed German and Russian localizations have been included as well, along with some bug fixes and performance improvements.

Keep in mind that the latest WhatsApp Messenger update is rolled out in stages, which means it won't be available to everyone right away.

So, in case the latest version of WhatsApp doesn’t show in the Marketplace, you might want to try and press the Share button, then Back, so it will appear as updateable.
