WhatsApp asks you to uninstall the third-party app

WhatsApp Plus or WhatsApp+ is a third-party application that offers the same main functions as the popular messaging app, WhatsApp, but embedded in a cleaner design and with different themes and features too.

While WhatsApp Plus uses WhatsApp’s servers, the latter company says it has no ties with WhatsApp Plus, so they don’t support WhatsApp Plus' efforts.

WhatsApp Plus users are being banned one by one

Now it seems that WhatsApp has had enough of WhatsApp Plus living off its back, so it has started banning users of the application.

The ban remains in place for 24 hours and only applies to Android users of the third-party applications.

The same seems to apply for users of WhatsApp MD.

WhatsApp is now asking users to uninstall WhatsApp Plus and install the authorized version of WhatsApp from Google Play. Once this happens, you’ll be able to continue using the services of the messaging app.

Unfortunately, there’s no way of getting around the temporary ban. The administrator of WhatsApp Plus confirmed on Google Plus that users can’t lift the ban by installing the official client. However, he recommends users to go ahead and install the official app.

How many users are affected by the ban, you might be wondering. We don’t have any official numbers yet, but the WhatsApp Plus community on Google Plus has more than 700,000 members.

Bad news for WhatsApp Plus users

Later on, a WhatsApp Plus developer took to Google Plus to announce supporters that he got served with a cease and desist letter from WhatsApp itself. That means he is obliged to remove all download links and also delete his Google+ Community.

Sorry, WhatsApp Plus users, it seems that you will have to take your business back to the mother ship. If WhatsApp updated its interface more often, people wouldn’t feel the need to install third-party apps such as WhatsApp Plus.
