Microsoft rolled out a new update for devs last week

Microsoft officially released Windows Phone 8.1. Update 1 build 8.10.14203 to devices enrolled in the Developer Preview program last week, but the company has been really quiet on what's new ever since.

As expected, changes included in this new version of Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 started popping out one by one, so now, with the help of users worldwide, we finally have a more detailed changelog for the new release.

As NPU writes today, other undiscovered improvements in the new Windows Phone version could also be available, but for the moment, the changes you can find below seem to be the only differences between build 8.10.14203 and its predecessors.

Battery Saver improvements and better UI navigation

As we reported to you last week, when the company started shipping the new version of Windows Phone to Developer Preview devices, the new version comes with improvements for the Battery Saver app which helps you keep an eye on power consumption for each installed app.

Thanks to this update, Battery Saver now comes with a live tile which not only that has transparency, but also displays the current battery level. Obviously, the lack of battery percentage in the live tile of an app supposed to help you monitor power consumption didn't make much sense, so it's pretty clear that such an improvement brings the app back on the right path.

At the same time, Battery Saver can be added to the quick action settings, so you can access it easily from the notification center.

Another new feature that should really come in handy is the addition of a schedule for Windows Phone updates, which basically means that users can now choose when to install new improvements for the operating system.

This addition is really helpful if you'd like to automatically download and install updates during the night, when the phone is most of the time connected to an external power source and reboots can be performed without interrupting your work.

Microsoft also implemented a few changes that affect UI navigation, so the operating system should now be a little faster and work more smoothly across all menus. Network Time protocol should also work correctly for most users, while the 4G option is now available as the “Highest connection speed” for Indian users as well.

Keep in mind that all these changes are only available for devices registered for the Developer Preview program, but end users could get all of them in the coming months if no major bugs are found.
