There aren’t any new major features included

Since BlackBerry let it slip that OS 10.3.1 won’t make it to compatible smartphones until early 2015, those who are anxious to take advantage of the new features included in the upcoming update are given the option to flash leaked builds that aren’t final yet.

Every once in a while a new OS version leaks online and BlackBerry 10 users can install it on their smartphones and decide whether or not to keep it.

The latest version of BlackBerry OS that recently popped up online on Crackberry’s forums promises a few fixes here and there, but doesn’t seem to contain any important new feature.

If you own a BlackBerry 10 smartphone and you’ve been dying to get the latest version of the OS running on your device, then you can try BB OS 10.3.1.1151, which is now available for download online.

The leaked OS is compressed and offered as an .exe file so there’s not much one must do aside from running it. Make sure you back up all your info on the device before attempting to flash this version of BlackBerry OS.

In case you’re already running a previously leaked BlackBerry OS and want to know if the new version is worthy of your device, then read on.

First of all, as mentioned earlier, BlackBerry OS 10.3.1.1151 doesn’t bring any new major features. However, BlackBerry’s engineers fixed a few things in this build, such as the BBM swipe in the hub.

No major new features have been implemented in this build

Furthermore, the flickering screen in apps has been considerably reduced, though it’s still present, just like the copy message bug.

Although BlackBerry Passport owners who flashed the new build claim that they are now required to swipe twice in order to open it, our Z30 requires a single swipe. There are no PIN watermarks and no Flash in browser. BlackBerry also removed the developer diagnostic tools.

These are among the most important changes reported by those who frequently used the new BlackBerry OS 10.3.1.1151 since it got leaked.

Last but not least, it’s also worth mentioning that if you favor battery life over performance and speed, then you should not install this build. If you want to have the latest version of BlackBerry on your smartphone, then by all means install OS 10.3.1.1151.

More importantly, the leaked BlackBerry OS doesn’t seem to introduce any major bugs that would prevent it from being used on a daily basis. Let us know in the comments section if you noticed any issues with this build, or any important new feature that we might have missed.
