According to a recently conducted survey

While a few years ago it didn't really matter what mobile phone you owned, since all of them were large brick-like devices and could only be used for calling and texting, these days, the mobile phone has become more of an accessory and a person's lifestyle can sometimes be determined simply judging by the handset s/he's using. A survey conducted in Australia by Panorama and released by Nielsen Media Research shows that the phone you're using can in some cases say a lot about who you are.

So, according to the survey, if you're currently holding a Motorola phone in your pocket, you're most likely under 24 years old and fashion conscious, while if you're using a Nokia you might be a family-minded middle aged manager. Sony Ericsson handsets seem to be preferred by ambitious young men while young women focused on their carrier will own a Samsung and stay-at-home parents will favor LG handsets. According to Nielsen Media Research associate director Jody Loughlin all makers of mobile phones had a wide spread range of customer types; but some groups were more attracted to certain brands.

And frankly, this also reflects the type of user each phone manufacturer is focusing on. Sony Ericsson, for example, mainly manufacturers stylish, sometimes colorful, music and cameraphones that will obviously target young and dynamic users while most of Samsung's phones are stylish clamshells that are generally more appealing for female users.

It's hard to imagine a business man carrying one of LG's Pink Chocolate phones or a 16-year old owning a Nokia E90 Communicator. All users will pick a phone depending on the features they need as well as the design, thus maintain a preference for the manufacturer that is able to offer such handsets. Nevertheless, mobile phones can say a lot about an individual and as time passes by there'll be a phone to suit every user's needs.
