Bing has released the official lists for Most Searched in various categories in the year 2012.
As far as TV shows are concerned, the race was tight between live competitions, unscripted reality shows and scripted programming but, in the end, competitions that also engage viewers took home the figurative, virtual bacon.
American Idol remains one of the most searched TV shows online, being followed closely by Dancing With the Stars, which is now getting ready to wrap up its All-Stars edition.
Both shows have in common the fact that viewers are supposed to vote for their favorites.
At number 3 is the iconic daytime soap opera “The Young and the Restless,” which recently celebrated its 40th year on air. Talk about longevity in the business.
“The Waking Dead,” the series that sees a group of humans fleeing and trying to survive the zombie apocalypse, lands in at number 4, with the animated “Family Guy” close on its heels at number 5.
The rest of the top 10 looks as follows: TLC’s new series “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” “Glee,” “Vampire Diaries,” “The Bachelor” and HBO’s insanely successful “Game of Thrones.”
The same data from Bing tells us that, this year, Ellen DeGeneres came on top of the Most Searched Daytime Talk Shows, being closely followed by newcomer Bethenny Frankel.
Kim Kardashian and her two sisters Khloe and Kourtney occupied the first 3 positions (in this particular order) of the Most Searched Reality Star top 10.
