Now that GNOME 3.2 has been released, the GNOME 3.4 desktop environment will see the light of day in about six months from now, and it will bring many new features and improvements.

In GNOME 3.4 you will be able to easily install, enable or disable GNOME Shell extensions for greater desktop experience. The "focus follows mouse" functionality will be improved to easily start multiple apps at the same time.

A new library, called libsocialweb, will be implemented in GNOME 3.4 to provide social networking integration. Also, support for automatic multi-seat will be provided in GNOME 3.4 via systemd.

Rendering of HTML messages in Evolution will be improved, using WebKit instead of GtkHtml. The "Call" dialog of Empathy will be revamped, allowing users to easily select a webcam and microphone, move the video preview, and select video effects during a call.

GNOME 3.4 will come on March 28th, 2012.

All of this is great, but the two things I want are:
* Windows remember their size and location when closed or system restarted. Windows has been doing this since Win 3.0.
* When a URL is dragged to the desktop and a link is automatically created, the link properties should show the actual URL. Seems so obvious.

Totally agree about the window size and position, it's seems so logical. It looks like instead they mean to change it so that all windows start maximized by default... so retarded.

Actually, windows doesn't do that, windows applications do.

I was using Gnome 2.xx for about six months. Then I tried to make use of Gnome 3. Then I went back to Win7. Circle is complete. Make that * UI usable or just drop it.

It just goes to show that you were just a casual *nix user, there are other interfaces to try before giving up so easily - the power of linux comes from the cli not the UI.

Not a reflection of win7 being superior in any way.

Can't wait for Gnome "Classic".
This will include pager, side panels, icons on the desktop as well as other features from Gnome 2.x.
Keep up the good work!
