We all aspire towards the perfect complexion, but how many of us really have the luck to be the proud owners of a problem-free complexion? And even women that are fortunate enough to have a radiant and healthy skin, with no trace of acne or other bothering irregularities, still want to improve the look of their complexion.

Let's have a small women-to-women talk and face it once and for all - we all are maniacs when it comes to our face. Besides the fact that we are never satisfied with our natural gifts - having too big or too small eyes, too thin or too thick lips etc. But when we are talking about our complexion, things worsen and we get all crazy: there is always a real or imaginary flaw we want to rectify and retouch. And taking into account the fact that we do not have Divine powers to reconstruct our faces the way we want to, all that's left relates to an appropriate way of covering the bothering tiny problems of our complexion.

This can be easily done by using cosmetic "cover" make-up - face foundation or powder. All set and done! But the most difficult step is now to choose the most appropriate make up solution to cover skin problems.

It is a fact that there are different types of complexion and this varies from one to woman to another. This is from where the quest for the perfect make-up product should start: establish what kind of complexion you have by following simple rules, and then go shopping in order to search for the make up that suits you.

Women that have a normal skin are the most lucky of us, as their epidermis has a fine even texture, a proper balance between oil and moisture contents and is, therefore, moist and neither greasy nor dry. These women do not have frequent problems with their skin, yet they might have skin tone problems - like two different color shades women will always want to even out in order to confer a single, global color to their face. There are also women that have a too white or too rose face color and they will want to turn it into a more natural, beige shade.

Women that have a normal skin type can generally benefit both from foundation or face powder. Therefore, they can apply then foundation to the cleaned face skin and then set it with powder to keep a smooth complexion all day. Before applying the foundation to your face, be sure you have deeply cleansed the skin and then applied a face cream, eventually moisturizing one that best suits your skin. Afterwards, apply the concealer for under eye dark circles - if you need one - and then the foundation.

As a general rule, the foundation or face powder should not be more than a tone darker or fairer than the natural color of your skin. A two shades difference would be the extreme limit. Also, do not forget to apply it uniformly to all your face and pay special attention to the extremities of the face - the temples, ears etc.

If one restricts foundation or powder applying to the center of the face, she risks to look like "a woman in a mask", as it would look completely hilarious to have the center of the face "painted" in a shade and the extremities of the face in a darker or fairer tone.

Dry skin is most commonly prone to wrinkles and lines as it is unable to retain moisture and the sebaceous glands cannot produce sufficient amounts of sebum. This type of skin becomes often dehydrated and needs special care by continually moisturizing it.

Therefore, women with such a skin type should not use face powders, as these make-up products will dry their complexion even more. Try using a moisturizing face foundation and, if the case, it should have anti-aging properties, too. This will help you have a beautiful looking face and keep it hydrated all day long at the same time. Recently, all kinds of moisturizing and radiant face foundations have been produced and released in the market. Try one of these and you will gain a complexion that is bright and flawless.

The foundation should be enough. Do not try to fix it with powder, because due to the dry skin, the powder will not "stick" to the sebum free face and will get wrinkled like flour on your complexion. On the other hand, the foundation will be absorbed by the pores which are thirsty and avid for moisturizing agents, which is a good thing for the health of your skin.

Oily skin is opposed to the dry skin, because the over secretion of sebum makes the skin surface oily. The problem with this type of skin is that excess oil on its surface attracts dirt and dust from the surrounding environment that lead to the forming of black heads, white heads, and spots.

That is why the most important for oily complexion is to provide it with make-up that will not make it oilier than it is, but instead will absorb the excess sebum. Women with such skin type should restrict to the use of face powder and avoid foundation make-up. The powder will suck out the excess sebum produced by the sebaceous gland and will make the complexion look beautifully, non-oily or greasy.

Another reason why women with oily skin should use face powder and not foundation lies in the fact that the foundation blocks skin pores, while powder allows them to "breathe." It is crucial for pores in oily skin not to be obstructed, because when like this, they get infected and lead to more acne related problems.
