Series creator Vince Gilligan would hope he got away, moved to Alaska, started fresh

“Breaking Bad” ended its very successful 5-season run on AMC earlier this year but loyal fans are still having a hard time coping with the fact that their favorite series is over. This blog post here should help a little with that.

First things first: if you ever wondered what happened to Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) after that final scene in which he’s shown speeding in his car from the lab where Walter White (Bryan Cranston) lay dying, series creator Vince Gilligan has the answer.

“My personal feeling is that he got away. But the most likely thing, as negative as this sounds, is that they're going to find this kid's fingerprints all over this lab and they're going to find him within a day or a week or a month,” he tells GQ in a new interview.

“And he's still going to be on the hook for the murder of two federal agents. But yeah, even though that's the most likely outcome, the way I see it is that he got away and got to Alaska, changed his name, and had a new life. You want that for the kid. He deserves it,” Gilligan adds.

However, in the end, it’s up to the viewer to imagine whatever future they want for Jesse, the once ever-so-annoying sidekick who grew on audiences until they started rooting for him in the end.

Speaking of the end, the video above is lifted from the “Breaking Bad” documentary and shows the moment in which the two leads meet for a reading of the final scene. Aaron’s reaction as Cranston reads sums up the finale perfectly.
