When word got out that Britney Spears collapsed on the stage 50 minutes after 12 o'clock, while hosting a party at Pure club in Las Vegas, people already started taking sides: some tend to believe that she was indeed drunk, seeing that this wouldn't be the first time that she is carried away by her bodyguards after one too many drinks. Others strongly say that she was too tired from traveling and that this is why she was taken home in the middle of the party.
The truth is somewhere in between these two stories. Her manager, Larry Rudolph, firmly states that the pop star had only one glass of champagne and that she was definitely not drunk. He told the media that, by one o'clock, she felt so sleepy that she asked the members of her entourage to take her home immediately.
On the other hand, there are the eyewitnesses who already spoke to the tabloids and shared their own opinion on what might have gone wrong. They said that Britney was seen throughout the night drinking not one but several glasses of the bubbly and a couple of cocktails and that, at one point, it became obvious that she could no longer stand on her own two feet. Naturally, Rudolph dismisses their words as 'hearsay'.
The truth is that it all went pretty well until then for Britney. She counted the remaining seconds of the year, wished everybody her very best and announced her New Year's resolution: to get back to her old self and to start taking more care of her own person. She seemed well and, from what pictures show us, not at all intoxicated, so there is little to support the theory of her being drunk.
Apparently, Spears was paid an estimated $300,000 to host the party at Pure and the people who came there that night admitted that her name was among the first things that drew their attention. So, of course, they were disappointed that she left earlier than scheduled.
However, as more details about this specific night in Britney's life will eventually be provided, we will keep you posted.
