In addition to the video in which he explains everything there is to know about Chinese domain name scams, Conrad Longmore of Dynamoo’s Blog has also made a video advisory about parcel reshipping scams.

These are the scams in which criminals launder illegally obtained goods. The scams typically start with a spam email that offers recipients a hard-to-refuse job.

Victims are told that they receive packages and they must reship them to specified locations, usually in Eastern Europe and Russia. The mules are paid a certain amount of money for each package they reship.

The goods are actually purchased by the crooks with stolen financial information. By sending it to unsuspecting mules instead of having the item delivered directly to them, they make it difficult for authorities to track them down.

Trend Micro has recently published a story on the types of goods usually ordered by the cybercriminals.
