Microsoft is probably the most well known company on the Internet, more popular than Google or Yahoo because the software giant developed the most used operating system, Windows. Besides that, the reputation of the company is also increased by the new systems that are offering Windows as the default operating system. Some time ago, Microsoft announced that Windows Vista will be also distributed with new computers in several countries.

On Monday, the company tried to attract more sympathizers by releasing a new contest with enormous prizes of nearly half a million dollars. Vanishing Point is a puzzle game that will challenge competitors to solve puzzles using some of the tips provided by the company. "To celebrate the upcoming consumer release of Windows Vista, Microsoft Corp. and AMD today revealed the rules and began the "Vanishing Point" sweepstakes, a large-scale online and offline collaborative puzzle game. Vanishing Point takes online games to new heights with tough challenges, big rewards and events scheduled around the globe. Players worldwide have already created forums and wikis, and posted thousands of messages online. Today Microsoft confirmed online speculation there are nearly a half million dollars in prizes, and that the eventual winner will secure a ride into sub-orbital space, courtesy of Rocketplane Limited Inc," Microsoft said on the official website.

As you may know, Microsoft developed the most popular operating system in the world, and the company tried to adapt it to every user. That's why the software giant released multiple versions of Windows for multiple needs: Home Edition, Professional, Media Center and even Server.

On Tuesday, the company announced that a new version of Windows is going to be released later this year. Windows Home Server is an operating system designed especially for families and will help you organize, store and protect pictures, music and other multimedia files.

"As computers and digital media become more and more central to family life, we need better ways to organize, share and protect digital content and information at home. Windows Home Server makes it easy for families to save, protect and access digital memories and experiences so they can focus on using technology to organize their day-to-day lives, explore their interests and share their memories with the people they care about," Bill Gates - chairman of Microsoft - said, according to a statement published on the official website of the company.

Google was the first company that created an innovative product meant to allow users to view images captured from the satellites with countries from the entire world. Google Earth was developed several times being improved with more and more features that made the solution one of the most powerful in its category. As a response to the challenge, Microsoft designed Virtual Earth, a similar product that is now updated with more detailed images from the US territory, as the software giant said on Wednesday.

"Microsoft Corp. today announced that it will begin to update the Virtual Earth online mapping platform with new, more detailed U.S. imagery under an agreement with GlobeXplorer LLC, a leading global provider of aerial and satellite images. The deal is part of Microsoft's ongoing efforts to bring consumers the most up-to-date content and help them easily explore broader geographic areas through the Live Search Maps service, which is powered by Virtual Earth," the giant said in a press release. "We share Microsoft's dedication to making available the most current and richly detailed images of the earth on the Web. This collaboration will help us extend the value of GlobeXplorer content to millions more businesses and individuals over the Windows Live network of services," said Paul Smith, chief operating officer of GlobeXplorer, according to the Microsoft website.

The Windows operating system is surely the most used technology on the computers from the entire world, representing the product that made Microsoft the most popular software company. The latest version of the application was designed to represent an innovative solution that can assure an improved experience for every user that works on the computer. Besides its appearance, Windows Vista is regarded as the safest and most secure operating system in the world. As you may know, Windows Vista is scheduled for January 30, 2007 but it seems that the product is already receiving awards for its technology.

"Today, the Windows Vista operating system has been selected by the editors at CNET as a winner of the "Best of CES 2007" award in the computers and hardware category at the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Windows Vista, scheduled to be broadly available on Jan. 30, 2007, was honored for enhancements and innovations that provide users with an experience that is easier, safer, more entertaining and better connected, at home or on the go," Microsoft said on Thursday.

On Friday, the giant said that it plans to release a new major version of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM in the next weeks, entitled Titan. "The new version introduces an advanced multitenant architecture, and uses a single code base to support on-premise deployments as well as software-as-a-service (SaaS) deployments through hosting partners and through the upcoming Microsoft Dynamics Live CRM service. It also uses a single code base to support on-premise deployments as well as software-as-a-service (SaaS) deployments through hosting partners and the upcoming Microsoft Dynamics Live CRM service.
