SiN Episodes is the title of a series of episodic games for the
PC that expand upon the 1998 computer game Sin; a total of nine episodes are planned. Developed by Ritual Entertainment and powered by the Source engine, the first episode - Emergence - was the first computer game by a major developer to be both produced episodically and delivered over the Internet without the intervention of a publisher,
through Valve Corporation's Steam content delivery system.
One episode of the new SiN series has been already launched without too much success, or should I say with a moderated success, as it was full of bugs and patches. It certainly didn't kick
Half Life's ass like planned anyway.
Mark Cottam, CEO of Mumbo Jumbo casts some doubt concerning the future of the series, as action games are not the primary objective now that Ritual has been swallowed by Mumbo Jumbo. What!? That's right Mumbo Jumbo, the very same casual games developer and publisher.
I know, you're probably asking yourselves what on earth is Mumbo Jumbo planning to do with Sin Episodes. Well, as the man says, it is not going to be a priority but since he doesn't cancel it either, the word "doubt" is at its full meaning: "The combined companies will focus exclusively on casual games, unless opportunities present themselves that we think are strategic from a business standpoint... Again, I wouldn't close the door on traditional games but that's not the primary focus" told Cottam at a Game Daily interview.
Hey, does that mean no more hot chicks with big guns and big... everything? That sucks!
