One of the most popular solutions the manufacturers of consumer electronics have come up with, for the end of this year, is to launch certain products that provide several separate functions at the same price point. The latest example comes from Westinghouse, which has just announced the SK-32H570D model, a 32-inch widescreen DVD combo, equipped with an integrated ATSC/NTSC/ClearQAM tuner and front slot-load DVD/CD player.

The SK-32H570D is just "HD-ready," as it supports a maximum resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Moreover, it delivers 16.7-million colors, a 1200:1 contrast ratio, a 6.5 ms response time, plus 178-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles. It's also important to mention that the built-in lamp has an estimated functioning life of around 50,000 hours and helps the device cover a color gamut equal to roughly 75 percent of the NTSC spectrum.

As mentioned earlier, the HDTV sports NTSC/ATSC/ClearQAM tuners and supports the 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i resolutions. In addition to this, it can also be connected to a computer quite easily, as it supports SVGA, XGA and WXGA PC resolutions.

Other interesting video processing features include the availability of several screen fit modes (Standard/Fill/Overscan), the support for progressive scan, the 3D noise reduction system, de-interlacing system, and a 3D Adaptive Comb Filter. Users can also choose from 3 preset color temperatures, while the TV set has also been fitted with a sensor that automatically detects the amount of light in a room and adjusts the brightness level accordingly.

One shouldn't really expect any surprises as far as the connectivity options are concerned. The SK-32H570D features 2 HDMI connectors, an antenna (RF) input, plus Component, Composite and VGA interfaces. There are also plenty of audio interfaces available, whether we're talking about the line-in or dual RCA inputs, or the SPDIF and dual RCA outputs.

The 32-inch HDTV/DVD Combo from Westinghouse is quite a sweet deal (especially if we take a look at today's economy), since it sells for around US$755.97 – 777 (depending on the particular retailer), thus making it a fairly attractive gift idea for this Christmas.
