SRS Labs has recently announced that their TruSurround HD audio technology is now available in select LED HDTVs from Westinghouse Digital, which should bring this technology to lower price points than before.

The SRS TruSurround HD standard was developed in order to bring surround sound to devices that feature only two speakers, while also providing a series of audio enhancements to its users.

These include deeper bass for more intense action sequences as well as improved dialog clarity for better intelligibility of vocals.

In addition, the technology can also compensate for a system that doesn't include tweeters by including a definition processor that adjusts the sound by taking into consideration the capabilities of the speakers used.

“Our TruSurround HD technology is the industry’s most popular virtual surround sound solution and we are excited that Westinghouse Digital’s customers are now able to enjoy this powerful audio enhancement technology from the comforts of their own homes,” said Allen H. Gharapetian, sr. vice president of Marketing for SRS Labs, Inc.

“We have worked closely with Westinghouse Digital to make sure their stunning new HDTVs are optimized to deliver the most realistic and natural surround sound experience possible over their built-in speakers and are looking forward to extending our partnership further to benefit the company’s other TVs and product lines,” concluded the company's rep.

The SRS TruSurround HD equipped Westinghouse Digital HDTV models consist of the 26-inch LD-2680 and the 42-inch LD-4258, both featuring 1080p Full HD resolution, LED backlighting and a slim profile.

Westinghouse Digital has already begun shipping the LD-2680, which is currently available at Costco, while the LD-4258 is available at BestBuy. Pricing for the LD-4258 is set at $549.95, while its smaller brother still isn't available for purchase online.
