Western Digital has just made available a new firmware developed for its My Book Live and My Book Live Duo personal cloud storages, namely version 02.43.03-022, which fixes an incompatibility issue with the Time Machine in OSx Mavericks 10.9.x.

In addition to that, just like with the My Cloud firmware 03.01.03-127, the two compatible devices also get a fix for the Windows 8 shares that were inaccessible for the password-free accounts.

Therefore, if you encountered these specific problems, you should consider applying this latest firmware; otherwise, it’s recommended that you remain with the current version.

As for installing this firmware, launch WD QuickView, login to the Dashboard, and go to Settings → System → Updates → Update from File. From there, browse to the firmware file, select it, and press the prompted “Ok” button.

At this point, the update process starts, so make sure you don’t interrupt it in any way, because doing so might render the device unstable. The process takes a few minutes and, when it completes, the device will automatically reboot, enabling the changes.

That being said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your WD storage, download the firmware file, and update it.
