Western Digital has been branching out, no longer selling only hard drives. We're not going to venture too far out of familiar waters here though, unlike when we wrote about the company's wireless routers.

Western Digital has completed a new member of its My Book external hard disk drive line.

Describing it as such is a bit of a stretch of course, since it is more of a storage station, what with integrating two drives and all, plus an internal power supply.

Nevertheless, the existence of just one interface (thunderbolt) makes sure it cannot qualify as a NAS or anything else of the sort.

That said, the newcomer is part of the My Book Duo strain and has 8 TB capacity, thanks to two 4 TB HDDs (RAID 0 configuration). It is priced at $849.99 / 849.99 Euro and sells alongside a new 4 TB variant of the My Book USB 3.0 hard drive ($250 / 250 Euro).
