Western Digital, the current leader of the HDD market, has formally introduced the My Passport Edge and My Passport Edge for Mac portable hard disk drives.

The former features WD SmartWave, an automatic backup software that continuously makes spare copies of important PC files.

The latter is compatible with Apple Time Machine and has an aluminum frame. The press release makes it remarkably vague if the other unit is also housed in aluminum or not, though it sounds like it isn't.

Regardless, the newcomers have 500 GB of space each, as well as USB 3.0 cables.

The My Passport Edge has a price of $109.99 (87 Euro), while the My Passport Edge for Mac needs $119.99 / 95 Euro. If the Mac version is the only one with an aluminum shell (to fit the design of MacBook laptops), that accounts for the difference.
