Western Digital has outed a new firmware package targeted at one of its personal cloud storages, namely version 1.02.36 compatible with the My Cloud EX4 unit, which brings a few changes that improve overall performance and stability.

Specifically speaking, the newly released update fixes a problem where the dashboard generated an internal server error 500 message and resolves the issue that didn’t allow the device to be seen when using WD SmartWare and / or WD Discovery tool.

In addition to that, the OpenSSL has been updated to resolve the TLS Heartbleed Extension bug, and the CPU usage issue that exceeded 100% during system standby mode has also been fixed.

When it comes to installing version 1.02.36, get and extract the downloadable archive, log into the device’s dashboard user interface, go to Settings → Firmware Update, and click on the “Update From File” button from under the “Manual Update” section.

Now, browse and select the “My_Cloud_LT4A_1.02.36.bin” file and click “Ok” at the dialog that asks for your permission to initiate the upgrade. When the installation has finished, the EX4 will automatically reboot.

Bear in mind that you mustn’t interrupt the firmware update process or rename the bin file so as not to encounter any problems; doing so might cause serious malfunctions to the device.

That being said, download WD My Cloud EX4 Personal Cloud Storage Firmware 1.02.36, take into account all above-mentioned aspects, apply the latest firmware version, and enjoy your newly updated personal cloud.
