The camera is hidden into a book

So let's see! There is a self-destructor bag, a bug detector, a dagger shoe, a jet pack, the good old safe cracker and a bunch of other stuff James Bond would carry in his exotic "purse".

This gizmo I ran into on Wired looks like an ordinary book, but it's actually a high tech camera containing a miniature video recorder and monitor. In fact, Bond himself had a tiny cassette recorder hidden...also in a book.

The whole spying kit measures a nano 80 x 52 x 22 mm size and weighs about 91 grams. The book itself hides the cool stuff. You just have to place this on a bookshelf or just forget it in the girls locker room (just kidding)!

The result is going to be a clear color CCTV set of images with background sound and everything else on a crisp 2.4 TFT LCD display. Since we're talking about serious gadgetry, it's good to know all the recordings can be date and time stamped. The system transfers media content to PC via USB 2.0 interface.

As for its actual capabilities, the camera captures at 720 x 480 pixel resolution directly on an SD card. The recorder, which comes in a separate unit is remotely controlled and gets juiced up from a single lithium-ion battery. Too bad the whole fun only lasts for an hour, as it features only 1 GB of internal memory storage. It might be useful to know the specs list mention a camera resolution of 450 lines and an 80 % angle of view.

How much are you willing to invest in your secret spying machine? I believe 1,300 bucks should be just about enough! Quick, look on your desk! Are there any books? Then you'd better check them out to see if you're not being watched!

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
