Wendy Williams blames Jennifer Lawrence for being a hacking victim, believes she should just let it go

For the first time since her iCloud account was hacked and she’s had her personal and very revealing photos plastered all over the Internet, Jennifer Lawrence opened up about the scandal in an interview with Vanity Fair, out now on newsstands.

Because her comments on the topic have made headlines all around the world, they were also included on Wendy Williams’ Hot Topics segment on The Wendy Show. Wendy believes Jennifer should just shut up and let this go, once and for all.

You can see the entire segment in the video below: Wendy talks about Jennifer after dissecting the new development in the Kendra Wilkinson – Hank Baskett marital drama.

Just let it go, Jennifer Lawrence!

In her VF interview, Jennifer explained that the only reason she had nude photos in her iCloud account was that she was trying to keep her relationship with her boyfriend of 4 years (Nicholas Hoult, most likely) alive, as they were spending too much time apart because of their working schedules.

More importantly, Jennifer said that what had happened to her wasn’t a “scandal” but a crime, and that it was proof that legislation was necessary to punish the culprits. That’s right, she took the pictures, but for whatever reason she took them, they were hers to share or not with others… and she never consented to having them out there.

This was in response to all those saying that she somehow “deserved” what had happened to her because, if she’d never taken those photos, she would have never been embarrassed like this.

Wendy is of the same opinion. She even hints that Jennifer should consider showing some gratitude, because her public profile received an unexpected boost with the leak, so she really shouldn’t complain this much.

“Jennifer Lawrence, you know what? Don’t sweat this, young lady. I mean, you’re the one who took the pictures,” Wendy says. “In my opinion, if she would just stop talking about the [iCloud] and the naked pictures, it’d go away! We’d all forget about it! Besides, Jen, you don’t look bad under your clothes, and I think the [hacking] has actually made your career even hotter.”

Wendy is completely missing the point

By saying these things, Wendy Williams shows that she completely missed the point Jennifer was trying to make: in her VF interview, she wasn’t complaining; she was arguing that she has the same rights to her own privacy as any other non-famous woman or man. Being in the public eye doesn’t mean she automatically renounces her privacy.

Another thing that grates with Wendy’s statement is that she’s making it sound as if she’s tired of hearing Jennifer talk on and on about the hacking scandal, and that it’s time she just shut up. In reality, this is the first time that Lawrence personally addresses the leak and she does it in the most articulate manner possible, all things considered.
