Expect articles, plenty of hands-on and hands-off impressions, not to mention interviews

Next week is a big one for the gaming industry as most of its representatives flock to Cologne, Germany, for Gamescom 2014, the new iteration of the hugely popular convention.

While it's often called Europe's version of E3, Gamescom is much bigger and, most importantly, it's open to the public, unlike the corporate trade fair that takes place in early June in Los Angeles.

This year, Gamescom promises to up the ante with even bigger booths and spaces, not to mention the same German organization that helped it avoid major issues despite hundreds of thousands of attendees.

Throughout the last few weeks I've been quite busy setting up appointments with different big-name publishers, not to mention quite a few independent developers that all have things to show off at the large convention.

But, since you might not really care about my exploits, here's what you can expect to read during Gamescom 2014 here at Softpedia.

First up, don't forget to follow the big tag page for the conference, where all the big news and the different hands-on or hands-off articles will appear.

Secondly, in broad strokes, you can expect to see plenty of news about the upcoming fall releases. While the past few weeks have seen delays, either by a few weeks, like with Dragon Age: Inquisition, or by a few months, like with Evolve or Battlefield Hardline, the fall season is still filled with blockbuster releases.

What's more, while many announcements were made at E3 2014 a few months ago, there are still plenty of reveals left for Gamescom, such as the new Assassin's Creed Rogue, not to mention BioWare's mysterious new intellectual property.

Teasers about other projects from Sony, as well as many other big companies are also floating around the web ahead of next week, so expect to see a few surprises during the big event.

While it'll only be me in Cologne representing Softpedia, you can expect coverage on major titles such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Destiny, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Evolve, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Battlefield Hardline, and much more.

Indie fans can expect hands-on articles with Defense Grid 2, Project Totem, Hellraid, Project Cars, and a variety of new titles published by Devolver Digital, like Hotline Miami 2 or Broforce.

Also look forward to seeing coverage about the eSports scene, as the ESL will hold quite a few tournaments during Gamescom for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive or Battlefield 4.

Overall, it's going to be a busy week for all gamers, especially for me, so keep checking back for lots of new articles.
