Both Sony and Microsoft are interested in Titanfall 2

This weekend the Titanfall beta stage is underway on the PC and Xbox One platforms, allowing platform owners interested in the upcoming multiplayer shooter to try it out for themselves and see if it's as impressive as developer Respawn made it out to be via videos, screenshots and more.

Right before the weekend, the NPD Group posted its sales results for the U.S. territory, confirming that the PlayStation 4 has beaten the Xbox One in terms of overall figures for the month of January, right after Microsoft's console managed to trump Sony's device in December.

Even so, it's pretty much certain that the PS4 will be given a run for its money after the Titanfall beta stage this month and in March, when the game launches worldwide for the PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. Quite a lot of Microsoft fans have put off buying the next-gen console until there was a game truly worth playing and Respawn's title seems to be the winning ticket.

As such, even if it appears for the PC and Xbox 360 as well, Titanfall is going to be a system seller for the Xbox One, which is something Microsoft desperately needs right now, until a potentially lower-priced, Kinect-less version of the Xbox One is ready to appear.

Given Titanfall's guaranteed success, you can also bet that EA is being courted by both Microsoft and Sony for the franchise. Microsoft, on one hand, wants to keep the series exclusive to the Xbox platform, while Sony wants to make sure that the PS4 will receive a potential Titanfall 2 in the future.

Considering the big advantage the PS4 has in terms of sales and that EA prides itself with making as much money as possible, even to the detriment of its customers, it's likely that it will opt to bring Titanfall 2 on the PS4 instead of a potentially big check from Microsoft.

What do you think? Will EA keep Titanfall an Xbox exclusive or is it going to make it multi-platform with the inevitable sequel?
