Getting it all out of the game

I've finished Dragon Age: Origins two times now and I am preparing for a third playthrough (I am thinking about a Arcane Warrior Blood Mage hybrid). And the role playing experience which the people at BioWare have managed to deliver is pretty spectacular from the beginning to the end. But, as always, the experience can be enhanced a bit by taking a quick look at the Projects page on the BioWare social space, which has some pretty interesting mods you can use to make the game better or, at least, different (yet another reasons to pick up Dragon Age for the PC if you have not yet done so).

As far as I am concerned there are 2 mods which are essential. One of them is the HD Textures pack, which can be downloaded from here, a site which is an excellent resource for mods, allowing comments, voting, and quite a bit of interaction with the creators. It's quite a bit download if you plan on getting it all and it can take a while to install, but when you fire the game up again and provided you have a graphics card with at least 1 GB of RAM, you will see a much more beautiful world.

The second one is the fix for the dexterity bug. It basically makes a rogue much more interesting to play, as archery becomes more powerful and as daggers get to use the Dexterity skill. Players need to be aware that the fix also applies to the enemies you face so mass archers might actually become more deadly than in the first un modded videogame.

With those two installed, the game is pretty close to perfection, as it seems that mods that mess with party size or adding the dog permanently might actually not be possible. Players might also be interested in adding a Respecialization mod, which allows for characters to be modified if a bad pick is made in talents, or the Steal Cooldown mod, which makes it easier to relieve people from the burden of carrying all those items which you could be using.
