Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Cyber Fighters have announced the start of the fourth week of Operation Ababil 2. A number of 9 financial institutions have been appointed as targets.

The banks targeted this week are JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citibank, Wells Fargo, US Banc, PNC Financial Services Group, BB&T, SunTrust and Regions.

“We, like most people in the United States, are banks' customers and we do not desire to disrupt the banks' financial transactions,” members of Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Cyber Fighters have told Softpedia in an email statement.

“But the American profiteer rulers' insistence and persistence in disregarding this reasonable demand of all Muslims of the world and not taking an action to remove this offensive film shows these tyrants insist that continue to insult Muslim saints.”

They highlight the fact that they don’t understand why the Innocence of Muslims movie is not removed, considering that other “less important” films have been deleted in the past.

To show that the removal of the movie is their only goal, they urge US authorities to remove it from YouTube for one week as an experiment.

“Rulers and officials of American banks must expect our massive attacks! From now on, none of the U.S. banks will be safe from our attacks,” the hacktivists concluded.

According to Hilf-ol-Fozoul, a blog that has been following all the distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks launched by al-Qassam Cyber Fighters, the customers of several banks have already complained about not being able to access their online banking accounts due to website disruptions.

The affected financial institutions include PNC, BB&T, Citibank, Wells Fargo and Bank of America.
