On Tuesday, the public websites of JP Morgan Chase and BB&T were taken offline for a short period as a result of the distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks launched against them by Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Cyber Fighters.

According to the Hilf-ol-Fozoul blog, visitors of bbt.com were met with a message that read: “At this time, we are experiencing intermittent outages on BBT.com. This may prevent access to the site or use of our online products and services.”

“Our website is temporarily down, but our branches and Mobile Apps are available. Please try again later,” read the message posted by Chase on its website.

The hackers, believed by some to be funded by Iran, say they’ll keep launching cyberattacks against the websites of United States financial institutions for another 7 months if all instances of the Innocence of Muslims movie are not removed from YouTube.

Last week, the Cyber Fighters targeted PNC, Capital One, BB&T, Citibank, Bank of America, US Bank, Union Bank, Chase, and Fifth Third.
