14 DAY TRIAL // Just days before she was supposed to walk down the aisle to become the wife of one of the most sought after bachelors, Hugh Hefner, Crystal Harris had a change of heart and called it off. As the media is still reeling from the shock of the announcement, several theories about what went wrong are already gaining in popularity.
When the Hef took to his Twitter last year to announce that he and his 24-year-old girlfriend Crystal would be getting married soon, the world was completely taken by surprise.
After all, this was the same man who had publicly promised he’d never get married again because being bachelor suited him just fine, especially as he always had around at least 3 girlfriends to keep him busy.
After the initial surprise wore off, the newly engaged couple opened up about the upcoming nuptials – and the details confirmed that, number one, they were dead serious about it, and number two, it would be quite an exquisite affair.
“The wedding is off. Crystal has had a change of heart,” Hefner tweeted the other day, as reports began to emerge that the two had a mild argument on Sunday, Crystal called everything off and was out of the Playboy Mansion by the end of the day.
They were supposed to be married this weekend.
The most popular theory is that Crystal has somebody else in her life and that she’s been with him even when she was still with Hefner.
Life&Style was the first to identify the man, in the person of Jordan McGraw, Dr. Phil’s son. He helped her write her first single, which came out a short while ago.
“As Life & Style first reported in March, Crystal had been dating her songwriting partner and the son of Dr. Phil behind fiancé Hef’s back. Life & Style first spotted the 24-year-old lovebirds cozying up at the Chateau Marmont in LA on March 14,” the publication writes.
“While Crystal attempted to keep their romance low-profile, Jordan didn’t care to hide his affections and was kissing her shoulder and trying to hold her hand - which was still adorned with her 6-carat engagement ring,” adds the mag.
Radar Online also says that Jordan is behind the breakup, but insists that Crystal is not in love: she just believes that she will end up with more money if she chooses her younger suitor than if she chose Hefner, who is known to put his Bunnies on a strict budget.
PageSix has an even more scandalous story: yes, Crystal is dating Jordan, but the real reason she called off the wedding now is because her initial plan backfired when Hefner found out about it.
“Hugh Hefner’s wedding to Crystal Harris was called off after she secretly planned to ditch the Playboy mogul at the altar in return for a $500,000 media deal, PageSix has exclusively learned,” says the tab.
“Harris, 25, was shopping for a big-bucks deal to tell all after she ditched hapless Hef, 85, in front of 300 guests at their wedding at the Playboy Mansion on Saturday, to be filmed for a Lifetime TV special,” PageSix further argues.
As all this is going on, Crystal herself is speaking out in a bid to put an end to the rumors: the wedding was called off because Hefner only proposed because he thought that was what she wanted back then, she says in an interview cited by TMZ.
In the meantime, she realized the Playboy lifestyle was not for her and Hugh was actually “relieved” when she called off the wedding.
